Dr. Loftus and staff truly do make me feel like family, as if I am their only patient. I know this is by design. Thank you for making me feel like my pain, my headaches and mostly—my comfort and my relief are important to you. I cannot tell you how much relief that provides in and of itself. After 30 years of migraines, I’ve heard it all, and I’d felt like I had tried it all. You get depressed from the pain and from the disappointment and the lack of understanding from loved ones and colleagues. You have guilt for complaining “again”—- when you’re “fine” by all the tests, for which you are grateful, but part of you wishes you could point to an image and say, “See, there it is! That’s the thing that is so painful, it feels like it’s going to kill me, like it actually might— on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.” You struggle with anxiety over making plans— maybe you won’t be able to make it to this event or meeting. Once the pain hits, you struggle with crippling anxiety along with that pain that it may last an hour, a day or a even few days— while every minute of that time is excruciating enough simply from the pain. ER docs don’t usually have the care or capacity to help you so there is no use in going there. Most doctors will pass you along, because you’re just “too much”— Well, I want to say that MIGRAINES ARE TOO MUCH. Thank you Dr. Loftus, thank you Blakeley and staff— for being people who strive to make a difference in the lives of your patients. You know just how “much” all of this “too much” really is! I cannot tell you what a difference you have made to me and to my family the past few years. You have changed my life; you have looked at my migraines from every angle. You know that what helps these ten patients may not help this one, and while you’re so happy for the ten— you, Doc, are the guy who really worries about the one. Treatments actually ARE progressing every day, and Dr. Loftus is right on top of them.
